How to get to the venue

The Stayokay Hostel is located on the Scheepmakersstraat 27 in Den Haag. For those who wonder what the name 's Gravenhage means, it is the formal name of Den Haag, meaning literally "the hedge of the count". Luckily for you travelers, the city is most commonly referred to on road signs as "Den Haag". Take a look at the venue on the city map.

The following instructions tell you how to get here if you're arriving by...

Plane

Schiphol Amsterdam - Take the Sneltrein to Leiden Central from platform 5/6, get off at Den Haag Central and follow directions from there as described under train. Option number two is to take first a stop train two Leiden and then switch to the intercity to Den Haag Central. Option number three is to take the Sneltrein to Leiden Central from platform 5/6, stop is at Den Haag Holland Spoor and just follow the directions under train. For up to date times of arrival and departures, consult the website of the Dutch Railways.

Eindhoven Airport - Every 10 minutes bus 401 rides between Eindhoven Airport and Eindhoven Central Station. From Central Station you can take the intercity to 's Hertogenbosch, platform 5. Switch in Utrecht Central to the intercity to Gouda from platform 18a. Your stop is Den Haag Centraal. Further directions are under train, further below. An even more direct way is to take from Eindhoven Central station the intercity to Breda. This train stops at both Den Haag Centraal and Den Haag Holland Spoor. Consult the website of the Dutch Railways for up to date and accurate times of arrival and departure.

Train

Central Station - There a few options here:

  1. Take HTM line 17 to Wateringen, get off at Rijswijkseplein Noord. Within 10 minutes you get from Central Station to Stayokay. For a look at the departure times from Centraal Station to Rijswijkseplein, see the table from HTM.net.
  2. Take a stop train to Roosendaal, platform 1. Get off at Station Hollands Spoor and follow directions from there as below.
  3. Take the intercity to Venlo, platform 2. Get off at Station Hollands Spoor and follow directions from there as below.

Station Hollands Spoor - When you exit the train station on Stationsplein turn right and go past the cyclist shop and Etos. You are now on the Haagweide which leads up to Rijswijkseplein. Go past the diner called Let's chill then cross the water. You can already see the terrace at the water. Once you're on the other side, you just turn left and follow your steps back as you walk into the Scheepmakersstraat. At number 27 you will find your true calling, my young Padawans.

Bus/tram

The closest bus and tram stops are named Rijswijkseplein some way or another, so as long as you ask for those stops you'll get within striking distance of Naboo... I mean the venue!

Car

From Paris - Follow the A1 to Lille; then the A14 to Antwerp. From there you take the A1 and later, once you're in The Netherlands, the A16 to Rotterdam. Turn left on Terbregseplein onto the A20 and after about 6 km take exit 13-Overschie to the right and follow the A13 to Den Haag/Amsterdam. You will drive through one of our well-known towns in South-Holland, Delft, which is the home of the renowned Technical University. After 14 km take exit 7-Rijswijk to Den Haag-Zuid which takes you to the A4. Follow Rijswijk-Centrum, which takes you to the Rotterdamseweg. Continue on this street, which goes on as Haagweg and then Rijswijkseweg after a while. Cross the Neherkade and the bridge to the Rijswijkseplein and after about 30 m turn right on Pletterijstraat and again right after 140 m on Dintelstraat. The first street on your right is the Scheepmakerstraat. The Stayokay Hostel is on your left hand side.

From Duesseldorf - Take the A3 to Emmerich/Arnheim and once you cross the border continue on the A12 to Den Haag. After 136 km you take exit 3-Bezuidenhout (home of the rich and famous in these parts!) and after 450 m you turn left onto the Schenkkade. You go over the Schenkviaduct and after 37 m turn left on the Pletterijstraat and after 140 m right on Dintelstraat. The first street on your right is the Scheepmakerstraat. The Stayokay Hostel is on your left hand side.

Any other direction you're coming from: Just get on the A12 and continue till you get to exit 3-Bezuidenhout and after 450 m you turn left onto the Schenkkade. You go over the Schenkviaduct and after 37 m turn left on the Pletterijstraat and after 140 m right on Dintelstraat. The first street on your right is the Scheepmakerstraat. The Stayokay Hostel is on your left hand side.

And then...

when you have found the Jedi Temple, take a few moments to stash your stuff in the hostel and grab a drink at the hostel bar and settle on the terrace outside. When you do have some extra time during the WDC, take a stroll through the city, which will bring you within ten minutes near famous places like the Maurits House, the Hofvijver and the Binnenhof.
